CMR Fuel Cells and Samsung SDI sign JDA

Compact fuel cell stack specialist CMR Fuel Cells has entered into a non-exclusive joint development agreement (JDA) with Samsung SDI, it has been confirmed.

As a result, the two firms are to work together in the manufacturing of a direct methanol fuel cell system demonstrator.

Cambridge-based CMR's mixed reactant stacks - the first of which has already been delivered to Samsung - are to be utilised in the demonstrator.

John Halfpenny, CMR's chief executive officer, commented: "We are delighted to be working with Samsung SDI - a world leader in the delivery of innovative, leading-edge consumer products.

"Samsung SDI is in the vanguard of major [original equipment manufacturers] who recognise the potential that fuel cells have to power the next generation of connected, feature-rich, 'always-on' electronic devices."
