Hoku Scientific elects new independent director
Dean Hirata, formerly chief financial officer of Central Pacific Financial Corporation, will take up the independent directorship left vacant by the death of Lloyd Fujie in December last year.
Mr Hirata will also become the chairman of the company's audit committee - the position also formerly held by Mr Fujie.
As well as his experience with Central Pacific Financial, Mr Hirata has also worked as an executive at CB Bancshares and a controller at First Hawaii Bank.
This employment record has provided him significant business and financial management experience, Hoku said.
"We are pleased to have an individual with such substantial public company and accounting experience join Hoku's board of directors," commented Dustin Shindo, chairman, president and chief executive Hoku Scientific.
"With his breadth of experience, Dean will be a valuable addition to the board."
