- Organisation Description
The DoE is committed to the development of renewable sources of energy, a key element of President Bush's new Hydrogen Fuel Initiative. In addition, the DoEs Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) focuses on the range of renewable energy sources, partnering with other government entities and the private sector to better leverage the Federal investment in R&D of new technologies.
EEREs main projects are: The Biomass Program, Building Technologies Program, Distributed Energy & Electric Reliability Program, Federal Energy Management Program, FreedomCAR & Vehicle Technologies Program, Geothermal Technologies Program, Hydrogen, Fuel Cells & Infrastructure Technologies Program, Industrial Technologies Program, Solar Energy Technology Program, Weatherization & Intergovernmental Program and Wind & Hydropower Technologies Program.
The Hydrogen, Fuel Cells & Infrastructure Technologies Program integrates activities in hydrogen production, storage, and delivery with transportation and stationary fuel cell activities.
The FreedomCAR & Vehicle Technologies Program works with industry to develop and deploy advanced transportation technologies that reduce the nation's use of imported oil and improve air quality (e.g. hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles).
