- Organisation Description
Acta has launched a catalyst technology called HYPERMEC.
HYPERMEC is a platinum-free catalyst which works with hydrogen and methanol but also has the ability to work with ethanol and ethylene glycol. Performance is comparable to platinum fuel cells but there is minimal sensitivity to CO poisoning and no fuel crossover effect in DAFC.
In addition, HYPERMEC catalysts can reform hydrogen at around 450 degrees C, reducing the required operating temperatures of SOFC and reformers.
The products are ready for sampling (June 2005) and we wish to actively engage both with customers/fuel cell producers but also partners who may wish to produce completed systems for a number of people who have approached us wanting an ethanol-powered solution.
