We are seeking a Fuel Cell Development Engineer to join our team. An experimentally-oriented engineer is sought to join Nuvera’s Electrochemical Technology Group, focused on the design and development of advanced, high power density fuel cell stacks for automotive and industrial applications, in accord with requirements of high performance, long life, and low cost.
Essential Job Responsibilities
• Work with development teams to create performance and durability test plans
• Prepare test stations, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to support testing
• Implement and manage test campaigns (electrochemical materials, cells, and stacks)
• Collect and analyze data, document and present findings
• Contribute to selection/optimization of operating conditions
• Perform electrochemical diagnostics to conduct in-situ testing of fuel cells
• Support fuel cell design and system/product development initiatives- Required Skills:
Qualifications: (required unless otherwise noted)
Educational Background
BS/MS (Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering)Previous Work Experience
One or more years of development/engineering experience with emphasis on experimental workSkills and Abilities
• Knowledge of basic proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell design & operating principles
• Facility with mechanical and electrical test equipment, and data acquisitions systems
• Designing and conducting experiments
• Recording, analyzing, and presenting data
• Experience with, or willingness to learn, electrochemical diagnostic methods, including polarization measurement, voltammetry, electronic impedance spectroscopy• Facility with quick turn-around design and R&D prototyping
• Solid foundation in engineering fundamentals
• Superior communication and teamwork skills
• Fluency in English languageDesirable Skills and Abilities
• Training/education in electrochemistry or corrosion
• Engineering analysis and mathematical modeling
• Labview software and programming
• Process simulation, fluid dynamics, or stress analysis software
• Project management training/experiencePhysical Requirements/Work Environment
Laboratory and office work environments. This position has an emphasis on experimental work and significant time in a laboratory/pilot plant setting is required.
Ability to lift components weighing up to 16 kg/35 lbs. is required.Travel Required - Up to 5% regional travel is required, with occasional opportunity for travel outside the U.S.
