Alternative Engines: Lessons for Fuel Cell Vehicles
In this article we will look at different engine technologies for light duty vehicles, their development routes and the lessons that can be learned by the fuel cell sector. In many cases, there are similar market drivers for fuel cells as for these alternative technologies including emissions reductions, improved performance and better fuel economy. The fuel cell car industry can benefit by examining the successes and failures in the introduction of other engine technologies to win market share from the conventional Internal Combustion Engines (ICE).
