Recent Advances in Fuel Cell Technology and its Applications

Author
Gary Acres
How does one best highlight recent advances in fuel cell technology and its applications? As the Seventh Grove Fuel Cell Symposium occurs this year, it is appropriate that the preceding symposia form the basis of this review. The first Grove Fuel Cell Symposium was held in 1989 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Grove’s invention, coinciding with an increase in interest and activity. It has been held bi-annually since, with the objective of reviewing progress in the development and application of fuel cell technology by the leading global players.

Text

Gary Acres has been heavily involved in fuel cells for many years. He is currently chairman of the Grove and an adviser to the European Union on fuel cell matters.
